Robert Spinner, CEO, After attending the University of Minnesota, where he studied Business and Marketing, Bob sold restaurant equipment and supplies for PYA/Monarch and Johnson for 2 years. In 1989 he jonied Amcom Corporation as a Sales and Marketing Account Manager offering restaurants new and refurbished POS equipment and parts. Accomplishments at AMcom include developing a new vertical market in restaurant POS, and becoming a private shareholder in 1985. After Amcom merged with two other companies to become Expresspoint, Spinner developed and marketed POS software and became the Director of POS Sales in 1998. During his 10 years at Amcom, he developed strategic relationships with retailers like Walgreen’s, Dillard Department Stores, Wal-Mart, Longs Drug, CVS, Menard’s and Dayton Hudson Corporation. In his spare time, Bob enjoys golfing, snowmobiling, and boating with his family.
Cindy S. Bauer, CFO, 1987 BS Degree from Mankato State University where she studied Management and Finance. In August 1987, Cindy joined Amcom Corporation as a Sales Assistant supporting the POS sales force and assisting in the Accounting Department. Accomplishments at Amcom include developing and training of the Customer Service Department as the Customer Support Manager. During her 12 years at Amcom, Cindy developed key relationships with vendors, end-user customers, and third party maintenance companies with a specific focus on the hospitality and retail verticals. After working closely with Spinner at Amcom, the two decided to combine their industry knowledge and open Retail Tech in April 2000.
Mark Baskfield, VP Sales and Marketing, After graduating with a degree in Business Management from St. John’s University, Mark worked in the hospitality industry selling food to restaurants. In 1992, Mark went to work for Bob Spinner at Amcom Corporation. At Amcom, Mark was able to leverage his previous experience as he began his career selling point of sale equipment to the hospitality market. In 1998, Amcom and two other companies merged into Expresspoint and Baskfield left shortly after to work for POS Plus selling systems to retail, grocery, and hospitality chains. Mark began his career at Retail Tech in 2004 where he rejoined Bob Spinner and Cindy Bauer. Resulting from his 18 years of experience, Mark provides product and industry knowledge for his customers and other co-workers at Retail Tech. Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife, along with his three young children. He also enjoys golf, hunting, and coaching soccer.
David DeRoma, Account Manager, Degree in Marketing from the University of Minnesota Duluth, David has been at Retail Tech for 10 years and has worked in many areas including the warehouse, tech room, shipping/receiving, and is currently in sales. With previous experience in the retail and hospitality industries, David leverages his ability to understand a customer perspective and ability to put customer needs first. David is married and enjoys spending his free time with his wife and kids.
Patrick Bogan, Account Manager, After Receiving a BA in Communication from Minnesota State Moorhead, Pat spent the majority of his career working in sales. Before starting at Retail Tech, Pat worked for other POS companies including Northstar Matrix Serve later becoming ExpressPoint in the 90’s. Pat’s career accomplishments include becoming the Director of Solution Sales at ExpressPoint and introducing Retail Tech to the maintenance and depot repair business. Before full time employment at Retail Tech, Bogan helped manage Retail Tech’s relationship with IBM. Aside from working for Retail Tech since 2006, Patrick also enjoys spending his free time running, skiing, snowmobiling, and boating.
Steven L. Biccum, Marketing and Sales Support Director, Steve began his 31 year career as an Industrial Engineer with IBM and held various positions in the industrial engineering, planning community and management. In 1983 he began working with (what is now called) Retail Store Solutions (RSS) as a product planner where the assignments concentrated on development of hardware and software solutions. As a member of the Senior Advisory Committee, input was provided as to the directions for future development of RSS products. Steve joined the RSS Sale Team in 1995 where he received two IBM Golden Circle Awards and three One Hundred Percent Club Awards. Upon retirement in 2000 he consulted for RSS and IBM Global Finance for five years in a Marketing and Sales Support capacity. In 2005 Steve accepted a position with Retail Tech Inc. in a Marketing and Sales Support role, where he has been fortunate to be part of and witness a 10 fold growth over Retail Tech’s 10 year existence.
David Mayer, Account Manager, MBA degree from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee and a BA Degree from Mankato State University. David has spent his entire career in the high-tech industry developing his technical, marketing and customer service skills. His focus has been on POS equipment and related computer products. Before joining Retail Tech, David served as Vice President of Sales for Northern Computer Products, Sales Manager for ExpressPoint Technology Services and Marketing Representative for DataServ. He also held key marketing positions for other technology-related companies. David enjoys spending free time with his wife and two children. He also likes all sports, especially hockey.
Jeff Whitecotton, Account Manager, Attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and studied Business and Journalism. Jeff then began a role as a Manager of Retail Automation Support and Development at Nash Finch Company. Jeff initiated the first help desk within the company and went on to work with the likes of Red Owl Stores, DataServ, Direct Source, Iceberg Wireless, and Wrenchman in various sales and support roles entailing both hardware and software. In 2005 he joined the Retail Tech force. Whitecotton brings a rare value-add to Retail Tech having worked in the grocery industry prior to selling point of sale systems. He truly understands the needs of his customers and is able to offer support after the sale through his knowledge of programming and operations. In his free time, Jeff enjoys attending his kids sporting events as well as spending time with his family. He also loves to golf and travel to his cabin when he has time!
