“Smaller is better for aging shoppers”
“Are We Getting Closer to a Mobile Payment PCI Standard?”
“Kellogg’s customers click with videos triggered by QR, text codes”
Have you read these articles yet? If not, you should! As a successful operator, most likely you are keeping tabs on your competitors and fellow retailers. Industry research is vital to the success of your business and it is easier than ever to stay up to date with the latest trends, store implementations, and news….all you have to do is read!
Writing is one form of art that has not been eradicated by the internet. In fact, more people are writing articles because it is easy to host your own website, blog, forum or other communication hub. Rather than being written by a third party source like a journalist or editor who may tend to twist a story to make it more interesting, this useful information is coming straight from a company employee. Could it possibly be any more of a “breaking story” than that?!
Cutting through the clutter to stay up-to-date with all the latest retail, restaurant, and grocery news is time consuming. Finding the best sources can be difficult, yet when you do see a great story it can be virtually invaluable to your own operations. Finding 10-20 minutes in my day to read blogs, news articles, or other online publications is something I feel passionately about. It is too easy to get wrapped up in the day to day and miss out on what is going on in the world outside of your operation. Consequently, innovation and new ideas begin to slack.
If you keep up to date on your industry news, kudos to you! I am sure you have already experienced a number of intangible (and maybe even monetary) benefits from doing so. For those of you who get lost in the daily grind, I would encourage you to start reading! I have included a number of blogs that I follow on a daily basis below. These sources have provided me with a lot of great content to share with you all as well as keeping me up to date with our customers. Enjoy! If you have any others that you religiously follow or WRITE, please send them my way: snoble@retailtechinc.com. Make sure to start following the TechTOPICKS blog if you are not already!
